The Big Idea
The Law we see laid out in Scripture is God’s good will for creation. But as sinful humans we experience it in three distinct ways.
- Curb: The law acts as a curb. Like the curb on a street the law curbs violence and evil allowing for a basic level of peace within society. Without law human sin would plunge human society into chaos.
- Mirror: The law acts as a mirror to show us our sin. It is through the law that we become aware that we a sinners in need of a savior.
- Guide: The law acts as a guide to show us as Christians the good way we should live. It is a pattern or blueprint for us to use as washed and saved believers to see what a good world should look like.
