The Big Idea
The idea of law and commandments in scripture is far deeper than how we use it in Law and Gospel or Three Uses of the Law. Those are good starting frameworks but do not contain the fullness of scripture and Gods will expressed as law.

-
Commandments can be seen as blueprints for the world.
-
Commandments can be seen as the good will of God for creation.
-
We can ask “who does this protect?” As an entry point for studying a particular law
-
We can look for the main principle or perspective expressed by a law. And do our best to see the picture of a good world that it paints. This is the kind of spirit of the law we can apply as Christians. The actual letter of each law not so much (in the case of ceremonial, land laws, food laws, etc.)

Commandments as expandable and contractable all the way down to two main commandments according to Jesus all the way out to specific laws on lending or farming in Israel. See: Telescope of Scripture, the Law and Doctrine
