The Big Idea
From the account of Gensis 1 we see a very intentional ordering of created matter. I think this leads to a rather simple hierarchy:
- Light
- Water
- Earth
Out of these arise the basis for the rest of the created world. What I think this has promise for is allowing us to think about our build environment using this hierarchy. Meaning that the way we handle light is most important. Followed by water and then earth and other physical elements. Because out of the good ordering of these elements do we see God create the world and bring forth life.
An example of this would be the life of a plant is supported by the three core elements very literally. Removing one will eventually cause the plant to die but removing light or water will kill it faster than removing dirt.
Question
I wonder if this holds water for theological typology as well? Like do Metaphors, stories, or rituals that are about light mean more than once about water?
